Last night

It is one of those days you just can't go to bed. So, I called up my pals in India and had a hearty conversation. Good to know that everyone is doing great. It's our new year today and everyone was happy I called on this day. Just talked about friends, career, school, etc. Usual chat about girls followed, it was pretty boring at that hour for me but continued on aimlessly...

still couldn't sleep...
went through my bookshelf and found two books I didn't finish yet... the first one is on history of strength of materials by S.P.Timoshenko ( a great mechanisian ever lived on this earth).. nah no more mechanics for the day... just finished writing a paper and a long homework... the other book which I borrowed from my roomie was To The Youth Of India by Vivekananda. The book is mainly written based on his talks at various places in india before independence. The topics include Hinduism, Vendanta, advaita, religion, etc. It is a good read if you want to know more about Vivekananda's teachings, and the above mentioned topics. It is sometimes important to know your history to choose the best. Blindly following a custom or a practice doesn't make sense and we loose the original idea upon which a custom or a practice is based. As Eshelby said, always read old literature, it improves our understanding of the fundamentals.

For those interested in all kinds of books there is a digital library in the make : http://dli.iiit.ac.in/

For all those who celebrate their new year today - Happy Ugadi
