Last night

It is one of those days you just can't go to bed. So, I called up my pals in India and had a hearty conversation. Good to know that everyone is doing great. It's our new year today and everyone was happy I called on this day. Just talked about friends, career, school, etc. Usual chat about girls followed, it was pretty boring at that hour for me but continued on aimlessly...

still couldn't sleep...
went through my bookshelf and found two books I didn't finish yet... the first one is on history of strength of materials by S.P.Timoshenko ( a great mechanisian ever lived on this earth).. nah no more mechanics for the day... just finished writing a paper and a long homework... the other book which I borrowed from my roomie was To The Youth Of India by Vivekananda. The book is mainly written based on his talks at various places in india before independence. The topics include Hinduism, Vendanta, advaita, religion, etc. It is a good read if you want to know more about Vivekananda's teachings, and the above mentioned topics. It is sometimes important to know your history to choose the best. Blindly following a custom or a practice doesn't make sense and we loose the original idea upon which a custom or a practice is based. As Eshelby said, always read old literature, it improves our understanding of the fundamentals.

For those interested in all kinds of books there is a digital library in the make : http://dli.iiit.ac.in/

Stray Birds - R.B. Tagore

Either you have work or you have not.
When you have to say, "Let us do something," then begins mischief.

A mind all logic is like a knife all blade.
It makes the hand bleed that uses it.

Praise shames me, for I secretly beg for it.

The best does not come alone. It comes with the company of the all.

If you shed tears when you miss the sun, you also miss the stars.

In death the many becomes one; in life the one becomes many. Religion will be one when God is dead.

Our desire lends the colours of the rainbow to the mere mists and vapours of life.

My sad thoughts tease me asking me their own names.

The false can never grow into truth by growing in power.

I live in this little world of mine and am afraid to make it the least less. Lift me into thy world and let me have the freedom gladly to lose my all.
Anxiety...

I am feeling anxious today... for this weekend may bring out a few unknown changes... last time I posted about being happy for this friend of mine... I am really glad things worked out the way he wanted them to... the fallout may not bode well for us... I hate to be on the receiving end for no reason of mine... I just wanted to make peace with me right now... so blurting out to get over this anxiety and get back to work...
all the refugees in the camp should runaway and hide in a cave or something like that... that was the plan...

we don't need no education
we don't need no thought control
no dark sarcasm in the class room
hey, teacher leave the kids alone...

Thank you Mr. Waters, I understand what you mean...

Thought

Preserve a right mental attitude, the attitude of courage, frankness, optimism and good cheers, and others will automatically rally around you and lend you a helping hand. Success will be sure and certain if we persist setbacks, continue to struggle and face the challenges with determination.
If you go after your goals with energy, determination, persistence and an ever present, growing, burning, definite desire, nothing under the sun can stop you from achieving your goal or/and keep you from success. Remember only on the depth of your desire depends, the swiftness of your progress towards success.
No matter what happens, keep cool and keep trying, “NEVER GIVE UP”, the hardest man to beat is the one who never gives up or who will not quit from the task whatsoever does happen. He will ultimately conquer all seeming setbacks, finds a “certain way to overcome the obstacles and ultimately crown himself with success”.
Your thoughts are more potent, powerful and basic source of your sure success. When they are combined perfectly with the definiteness of purpose, perseverance and a burning, pulsating, irresistible desire to translate them into action “your dream comes true”.
HAVE A POSITIVE ATTITUDE!!
Always don’t forget that there is “One Above” to lend you a helping hand to beckon you to the world of success if you promise qualities such as hard work, determination and proper action in word and deed.

Cricket (part I)

I watched this movie Iqbal a couple of days back... I like the movie for its simplicity and an inspiring message for those who want to be cricketers... I am a big fan of Nagesh and I like most of his movies... also Iqbal happens to be the first feel good movie after a string of disturbing and disgusting movies... I am not in a mood for any serious or "run around the trees" movies these days...
coming back to cricket it reminds me of my dreams of becoming the greatest fast bowler in the world... I always used to dream about some impossible maneuvers before it hits the off-stump (I like bowling on the off-stump)... the crazy bouncers which the keeper has hard time to catch and the big jump before releasing the ball... in my dreams I keep my three fingers on the seam and run fast, really fast and release the ball with a huge swing of my arm, the perfect good length ball coming on to the off-stump, swinging a little bit away from the batsman and kissing the off-stump with the bells on the ground... that is perfect... suddenly my mom is pushing to wake up after watching me move under my blanket... there ends the dream... it was fun... I would like to get back into cricket (watching) and enjoy the stats, chat... etc.

Colour of my blog...

I changed the colour of my blog again today... well the last time I picked blue and white, my favourite colours, this time I let the software pick it automatically... I don't like it even though it is white and I can write in blue... just looks too plain, i.e., devoid of any attractive colours... now where am I leading to... the reason I didn't like my white background even though it is my favourite is because the colour combination was not good... similarly sometimes in life it does come out that am improper choice of Colours (situations, people, etc.) do not go very well together... so what is the perfect combination... I believe there isn't any such thing... what matters the most is what is it that we expect to see out there based on our likes and dislikes accumulated over several years of our existence... this takes me to the kind of people I usually like... well I guess it is much easier to weed out rather mention everything I like as it will be too much information anyway... don't wanna let it out yet ;) ... I definitely do not like to be associated with people who have preconceived notions about others based on whatever criterion, people who judge you all the time based on what you said and what you did at that instance... I think in general it is nobody's business what I do as long as it is not hurting their interests whatsoever they may be... I never like to be in the company of people who talk bad about others behind their back (lack of a words) - this I don't get it at all, why should it matter to me what someone does in their personal life... I don't want to spend anytime at all to think about their life... Ofcourse there is an exception to this, I care about my family and my best friends... as a well wisher... I am critical but never try to show them down... I am painfully plain with only a few people who matter to me the most... they are part of my life... they are the BEST colours in my life and would always find a place in my heart... I will write about each one of these BEST colours soon... they deserve every bit of appreciation from me and my respect too...

I do want to write about a lot of things... but since I started with the theme of colours sometimes it is hard to find a relation as such with colours... I guess, need to think a little harder... may be not... who cares...
